There will also be a Flower Festival in the church and teas will be served from the hall or the church garden, weather permitting. ====== Flower Festival ====== The Flower Festival was held as part of the Open Gardens Day. The Flower arrangements represent the different colours of the rainbow. Colour is very importat to us and different colours represent different things in our lives. In the Episcopal CHurch colour plays a very important part of the clergy vestments and the alatar cloths are changed at different times of the year. Purple or blue are used in the penitential times of Advent (starts nearest Sunday to St. Andrew's Day) and Lent(the 40 days before Easter) red in Pentecost (50 days after Easter, and white and gold for celebrations - Christmas, Easter, weddings, baptism etc. green is used in Trinity (7 days after Pentecost) the green season or ordinary time. ==== Noah's Ark and the flood ==== Represented by a water feature. ==== Red ==== Represents the coming of the Holy Spirit in flames of fire, Apostles and Martyrs. {{:img_2654.jpg|:img_2654.jpg}} ==== Orange ==== Is not a liturgical colour but can be found on some modern vestments in Africa and South America. {{IMG_2658.jpg}} ==== Yellow or gold ==== Is for celebrations and is used at Christmas and Easter, Saints Days, Baptism and Marriage. {{IMG_2659.jpg}} ==== Green ==== Is for The Trinity - Father, Son and Holy Spirit and is in the Church from Trinity Sunday till Advent. {{IMG_2660.jpg}} ==== Blue ==== Is used in Advent and Lent. Our flower arranger here wanted to make a tribute to the Girl Guides 100th Anniversary. The guides are well known for their blue uniforms. {{IMG_2657.jpg}} ==== Violet ==== Is again used in Advent and Lent which are periods of introspection and preparation. {{IMG_2655.jpg}} ==== The whole rainbow ==== Here the arranger shows the whole spectrum of colour. {{IMG_2651.jpg}} ====== Canon Ind ====== ===== Sunday 16 May 2010 ===== Reverend Dom Ind was installed as a member the Cathedral Chapter of St. Ninian's Cathedral, Perth on Sunday 16 May 2010. The Preacher was Reverend Donald Reid. A large group of members of the congregations of St. Saviour's, Bridge of Allan, St. Cuthbert's , Cambuslang and St. Andrew's, Uddingston travelled to support Dom and to share in the service. Alastair Williamson has written this piece to celebrate the Installation of Reverend Dominic Ind as Canon on Sunday 16th May at St Ninian’s Cathedral in Perth by Most Reverend David Chillingworth, Bishop of St Andrews, Dunkeld and Dunblane and Primus of the Scottish Episcopal Church. The suns streams through lofty windows deep-stained with every hue, Catching a dust mote and a prayer as they drift from silent suppliants. Tapered columns clasp the vaulting high-timbered roof in worship too, Whilst triumphant chords swell the space from serried choir and organ. The cathedral waits in mighty awe as Spirit encircles stone and altar; Filling the hearts of those open gazing, fearfully watching, with calmness. The solemn group wends across the floor, golden in the light from far, Bishop, dean, priest and acolytes in splendid albs and scarves process. Outside the daytime buzz can fade, o’ershadowed by a calming presence That stills the nodding cherry blossom by the doors And holds a swift frozen aloft like a bee in amber, as He goes by Without a fire, with no rockfall, no hidden eye, just a still small voice. Inside the cathedral beneath that great triumphal sky, The song has ended and another small voice speaks out; Standing before the people there, the bishop smiles a blessing. The prayers are said and hymns are sung, then one priest kneels before him To receive episcopal endorsement of his title and his benediction; He rises from his knees and stands ambassador of his faith and now a canon. ===== A member of St. Saviour's is 100 years young today! ===== Vera Renshaw was born in Plymouth, Devon on 27 January 1910.
